When Déjà vu is really just history repeating itself

Saturday, 23. July 2011 21:36

I recently saw a short video piece put together by talk show host and political commentator Laura Ingraham.  It was brilliant in its simple, direct, in-their-own-words approach.  And, frankly, it gave me some serious heebie-jeebies.

It wasn’t about impending financial doom, or nuclear attack – it was an audio side-by-side of Presidents Carter and Obama. It was political Déjà vu - and we should all be concerned with the similarities.

The Carter Administration ran this country into the ground, but we recovered.  The Obama Administration seems hell bent on spending us into oblivion in order to fix a spending problem. The Administrations in-between kept kicking the economic can down the road until here we are.   And we keep voting them in…

“WTF” as campaign slogan initials right about now…  so incredibly appropriate.

I was a young girl when Jimmy Carter entered the White House.  He’s the first President I remember hearing speak as a child.  We tied yellow ribbons around trees in my home town during the Iran hostage crisis, and celebrated their release (20 minutes after Reagan’s inaugural address)  while taking them down.  Memories of my brothers and me, trying to keep ourselves occupied (and out of our parents’ anger zone), waiting in line for hours to get gas, are firmly etched in my mind.  We knew our parents were struggling to pay the bills, even resorting to food assistance from our church at times.  They were not just on edge… they were angry and scared for our future. Fixing Election Machines, or Fixing Elections?

Thursday, 28. October 2010 14:28

Elections are upon the U.S. as we face what is widely considered to be the most important voting cycle in generations. If not the most important, the 2010 midterm elections are definitely the most outrageous in generations, and November 2nd is still five days away.

Fearing both an all time low approval rating and losing Democratic power in Congress, President Obama has resorted to calling the millions of American who disagree with his far left policies “enemies” during an interview with Spanish language network, Univision on October 25, 2010. Allegations of ethics violations and voter fraud abound from California to Florida. With cases such as the now infamous New Black Panther Party intimidation case being all but ignored by our Justice Department, who knows what our more radical friends will try to get away with? It’s not like SEIU is fixing voter machines or anything… is it?

And this is just the early voting brouhaha.

Electronic voting machines are being put to question, along with the integrity of our voting system and any number of incumbents. Hundreds of millions of dollars have been spent, countless tons of mud has been slung and decision time is drawing near. Do we choose to follow a path of out of control spending and self imposed economic destruction, or do we choose the path of fiscally responsible government and adherence to the Constitution?

We the People decide – one vote at a time. Not only is it our Right, it is our responsibility. Now more than ever U.S. citizens need to vote for principles, not party lines. We especially need to be diligent in looking for, and reporting, any voter fraud as we cast our ballots throughout the next week. Our Nation’s future is riding on what decisions we make today.

Prisoner with similar injuries receives care within weeks

In the midst of all the hoopla surrounding the Health Care Bill, CAL-Fire Fireman Colby Hart has turned to Larry Nign, feature of the documentary “Almost Broken”, for guidance in his battle against California’s State Compensation Insurance Fund. Hart, who injured his spine when he fell through a second-story floor battling a house fire, has been repeatedly denied care over the past 19 months by this Government owned insurance carrier. During his battle with SCIF, Hart discovered through a former physician within the California prison system that a penal offender had received treatment for injuries very similar to his own within weeks while said inmate was incarcerated. There is something seriously wrong with this picture…
