Prisoner with similar injuries receives care within weeks

In the midst of all the hoopla surrounding the Health Care Bill, CAL-Fire Fireman Colby Hart has turned to Larry Nign, feature of the documentary “Almost Broken”, for guidance in his battle against California’s State Compensation Insurance Fund. Hart, who injured his spine when he fell through a second-story floor battling a house fire, has been repeatedly denied care over the past 19 months by this Government owned insurance carrier. During his battle with SCIF, Hart discovered through a former physician within the California prison system that a penal offender had received treatment for injuries very similar to his own within weeks while said inmate was incarcerated.
